Absolutely not! We are not here to tell you how to live your life or to judge your choices, our message is simple, Eat More Plants. Whether that be as little as 3 meals a week or 1 meal per day, science shows that eating more plants is beneficial to not only your health, but also the environment and of course, animal welfare.

In January this year, the EAT-Lancet report commission stated the following:
“Global consumption of fruits, vegetables, nuts and legumes will have to double, and consumption of foods such as red meat and sugar will have to be reduced by more than 50%. A diet rich in plant-based foods and with fewer animal source foods confers both improved health and environmental benefits”.
A whole-foods, plant-based diet is a way of eating that celebrates plant foods and limits unhealthy items like added sugars and refined grains.

In terms of our health, eating more plants has been shown to:
· reduce inflammation in the body;
· lower risk of diabetes;
· support a strong heart;
· help maintain a healthy weight.*

When considering our planet, the positive impact of eating more plants and less meat and dairy is clear:
· The meat and dairy industries are the main contributor to deforestation, water pollution and ocean dead zones. *
· It takes 1850 gallons of water to produce 1 lb of beef vs 39 gallons for 1 lb of vegetables. ^
· Eat one less burger a week and save the equivalent of 320 miles in carbon emissions. ^

There are over 20,000 edible plants in the world! Imagine the variety of inspiring, nutrient-dense and vitamin-packed dishes that can be created from them all! The Nourish Box is here to help you get started. We are both so excited to introduce you to some wonderful plant-based ingredients that will blow your mind, nourish your body and tantalise the tastebuds!

Whilst we endeavour to provide the highest quality of seasonal, fresh whole foods, we are not qualified to give diet advice. For each recipe , a nutritional table and allergen information will be provided on the website’s Recipe page. However, if you have any concerns, please consult with a qualified professional, preferably someone with a working knowledge of plant-based nutrition.

“Whole plant foods contain all the essential nutrients (with the exception of vitamin B12) we need. You can get some B12 from fortified foods such as plant-based milks and breakfast cereals, but the best source is a simple B12 supplement. (In fact, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends supplemental B12 for all adults over age 50 because as we age, many people lose the ability to absorb vitamin B12 from food sources.)”

A fantastic resource for those considering a wholefood, plant-based way of eating is the Plant Proof Vegan Food Pyramid.
https://plantproof.com/veganfoodpyramid/

“If you switch to a vegan diet from a typical Western diet, you’ll eliminate meat and animal products.

This will inevitably lead you to rely more heavily on other foods. In the case of a whole-foods vegan diet, replacements take the form of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans, peas, nuts and seeds.

Since these foods make up a larger proportion of a vegan diet than a typical Western diet, they can contribute to a higher daily intake of certain beneficial nutrients.

For instance, several studies have reported that vegan diets tend to provide more fiber, antioxidants and beneficial plant compounds. They also appear to be richer in potassium, magnesium, folate and vitamins A, C and E (1, 2, 3, 4).

However, not all vegan diets are created equal.

For instance, poorly planned vegan diets may provide insufficient amounts of essential fatty acids, vitamin B12, iron, calcium, iodine or zinc (5).

That’s why it’s important to stay away from nutrient-poor, fast-food vegan options. Instead, base your diet around nutrient-rich whole plants and fortified foods. You may also want to consider supplements like vitamin B12.”

For certain regional suburbs, the cost will be varied and you will need to contact us for a specific delivery quote (again, this will be clarified at checkout if required).

We are still finding our feet with The Nourish Box,  but our aim in the future is to explore the idea of a Local Pick Up option as well as a Food Host option to keep things as affordable as possible to everyone.

At The Nourish Box, we aim to deliver the freshest ingredients possible to our customers each and every week. The fresh fruit and veggies are delivered to us the day before you receive them and the cheese is made to order from scratch the very same week that you order.  By keeping the week long window between ordering and delivery, we can ensure this goal is met and that you receive the freshest products possible.

The Nourish Box has a foil pouch and/or cooler pack inside where items that require cooling will be stored.

Our delivery drivers will call you if you are not home when the box arrives. They will follow any instructions set out by you in regards to where to leave the box if you are not home.   Once the box has been delivered, you as the customer assume all responsibility for it and its contents.

We have long-standing and collaborative relationships with a number of key suppliers who we regard as partners. All of these relationships have been developed locally with a strong bias to like-minded business.  Some of our most significant and trusted partners for ingredients include Hello Friend Foods, Terra Madre, Vegan Dairy, Scicluna’s Fruit & Veg, La Madre bakery.

All of our ingredients are sourced from ethically responsible suppliers and we will always source Australian produce where possible. At this stage, although some of our suppliers are certified organic, this isn’t the case across all of our produce, and we are unable to make that commitment. If a product is organic, it will say so on the packaging.
Our supply team is really confident that our suppliers source for us not only the best quality, but also ethical and sustainable produce. And of course we love them because they support local farmers as much as possible.

We endeavour to have a gluten free option for each of our recipes each week.   If there is recipe on the site that contains bread, pasta or noodles,  we will be happy to replace these items with Gluten Free versions free of charge. Simply tick the “Gluten Free” box in the account set up stage.

Please note, however, that food items may have come into contact with gluten during the packing process and we cannot guarantee cross contamination has not occurred.

Attention persons with food allergies to wheat, soy, eggs, milk, peanuts, tree nuts, fish and shellfish:

Although staff at The Nourish Box take precautions to safely handle and label ingredients and foods that contain potential allergens, cross-contamination may occur. Highly sensitive individuals should discuss the risks of cross-contamination with their physicians.

Whilst we take extra care and put lots of love into our boxes, unfortunately, at this time we are unable to personalise and therefore we cannot guarantee that all of the products included are suitable for everyone. Please check the product ingredients list before consuming.

Thank you!

If you have a group of 5, we suggest that you order the 6- person box, and have a meal leftover for lunch the next day (or maybe a midnight snack!). However, if your group are not huge eaters or you have a younger child, the 4-person box may suffice.

Yes! We are all about spreading the word and sharing the love, particularly when it comes to health, nutrition and community.

There are two options here.

  1. Simply purchase a box, using your payment info and email address. In the address section, provide the loved one’s address. In the notes section let us know that this is a gift and provide the name and phone number of the recipient.
  2. place an order for a Nourish Box gift voucher for your loved one to use at a time that suits them. https://www.thenourishbox.com/product/the-nourish-box-gift-certificate/

Here are a few scary food waste and plastic facts in Australia:

Over 5 million tonnes of food ends up as landfill, enough to fill 9,000 Olympic sized swimming pools [https://www.environment.gov.au/topics/environment-protection/nwp/reporting/organic-waste]

One in five shopping bags end up in the bin = $3,800 worth of groceries per household each year.

35% of the average household bin is food waste.

Each year, enough plastic is thrown away to circle the earth 4 times!

Reduce
When purchasing The Nourish Box, we aim to provide you with as close to the exact quantities as possible, which helps significantly with minimising food wastage.

At The Nourish Box, we also source seasonal and local ingredients from Australian suppliers, wherever possible.

It is also of utmost importance to us, to reduce the use of any single use plastic packaging to the bare minimum.

Reuse
At The Nourish Box, we don’t believe that custom ordering brand new boxes to be made for us is a good use of money, energy, trees, or resources, especially when there are so many perfectly good boxes going to waste.
Therefore, we have decided to be part of the solution rather than the problem, and re-use boxes that are in perfectly good condition to deliver your beautiful food.  Often companies have ordered excess boxes or they end up not needing them all. We have teamed up with an awesome company here, and this is why your boxes may look different week to week or may not be in perfect condition.

Also, our awesome delivery drivers will collect your empty boxes (please flatten them), if you leave them out when your next delivery is due!

You can also reuse our non-toxic cool packs and insulation. They are both perfect for a picnic or camping.

Recycle
Our boxes, meal kit bags and recipe cards are all made from recyclable materials.

Either re-use your boxes or simply fold \leave them out for us to collect the next delivery day.  If you have ordered recipe cards, hold onto them, so you can make your favourite dishes again and again!

Dispose
Our cool pouches are made from PLA plastic fibre and our insulation fibre is derived from 100% plant material! If you don’t wish to hold onto your gel ice pack or pouch, simply dispose of both with your general waste, worry free.

Everyone likes choice! and we listened! As of November, we have added the option of choosing 3 recipes from a total of 6 rotating each fortnight.

We also have the option of gluten free for many of our meals (simply click the checkbox at checkout). However we cannot guarantee there is no gluten cross contamination in our products  due to shared equipment and varying suppliers.

We aim to provide even more choices for you in the future. Our vision for The Nourish Box is pretty big and in the future, we will explore the following:

  • Numerous box options such as:
    Organic
    No Oil
    FODMAP friendly
    Quick and Easy
    Gourmet Foodie
